Introducing our Bean Weevil Culture at Mantis House, the ideal feeder food for invertebrates, reptiles, and amphibians. Known by its common name, Bean Weevil (Callosobruchus maculatus), our cultures come in mixed sizes, ranging from eggs and larvae to fully adult stages, ensuring varied nutrition. Captive-bred and nurtured on a diet of dried black-eyed beans, our weevils complete their life cycle in approximately 6-8 weeks. We take pride in creating new colonies every month, ensuring a constant, fresh supply.

A great alternative to fruit flies and micro crickets, these tiny beetles (approx. 2-3mm) are very easy to keep.

They feed on Black Eyed beans (these dried beans can be purchased from any supermarket), ensuring a simple and cost-effective diet. Plus, as adults, they can fly, providing a stimulating and natural hunting experience for your mantis. Trust Mantis House for high-quality, reliable feeder insects for your pets.

Arriving in a 4oz container,

You will have some live bean weevils mixed with fresh black eyed beans and beans that have eggs laid upon them.

Let them come to room temperature first and simply keep between 20-25C.

They feed on the dried beans that they arrive with and lay eggs.

Once the adult bean weevils are fed off or die, simply wait for the eggs to hatch to finish the cycle.

The culture should yield for 2-3 weeks if not longer and beetles will gradually stop emerging once the larvae have eaten all of the beans. The perfect protein snack!

A good way to add more ventilation is by using a rubber band and a piece of organza, or move to a larger container.

This helps to prevent 'sweating' which sometimes occurs due to fluctuations in temperatures.
